
The Optimism-based network says the upgrade will let validators verify blocks in parallel during construction, aiming for up to one gigagas per second without more powerful hardware.
World Chain said it will become the first production Layer 2 blockchain (network built atop Ethereum) to stream full EIP-7928 Block Access Lists inside every flashblock when the feature goes live on mainnet on Aug. 17. The change is designed to let validators verify independent transactions in parallel while blocks are still being assembled, rather than re-executing a finished block one transaction at a time, with World targeting throughput of up to one gigagas per second without requiring stronger hardware. EIP-7928 would add block-level access lists, or BALs, as an enforced record of the accounts and storage slots touched during block execution and the resulting state changes, which World plans to stream every 200 milliseconds through flashblocks (partial sub-block streams during block building). Internal testing on standard cloud infrastructure showed validation latency remained stable even when throughput rose to 1 gigagas per second, and World is activating the feature through a runtime flag rather than a hard fork. The article also notes that Ethereum co-creator Joseph Lubin has described Layer 2 deployments as a proving ground for upgrades before they reach the mainchain, and that BNB Chain has already tested BALs in BEP-592 with what a BNB devs X account called measurable gains in CPU usage, throughput and block processing.
