The move follows President Donald Trump's "complete and total" endorsement and comes as Lindell pursues a gubernatorial bid he entered last year. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), who had initially sought a third term, ended his reelection effort in January. Lindell's run also comes months after a September 2025 ruling in which U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Bryan found he had defamed Smartmatic by falsely claiming 51 times that the voting technology company's machines helped rig the 2020 presidential election in favor of former President Joe Biden.
