After completing Marc-André ter Stegen’s season-long loan, Ajax has moved for Barcelona attackers Jofre Torrents and Roony Bardghji as Barcelona weighs structures that would ease wages and improve squad economics.
Ajax is expanding its summer dealings with Barcelona after finalizing Marc-André ter Stegen’s loan through June 30, 2027, with the Dutch club covering most of the 34-year-old goalkeeper’s wages. Ajax has proposed taking Jofre Torrents on loan with an option to buy 50% of the Barcelona academy forward’s rights for about €5 million, and Barcelona is reviewing that offer. Ajax also contacted Barcelona on August 6 about Roony Bardghji, the 20-year-old Swedish winger signed from FC Copenhagen for about €2.5 million in July 2025, whose contract runs to June 30, 2029 and who reportedly has roughly €3.12 million in remaining gross salary after only a handful of first-team appearances under Hansi Flick. Barcelona is said to be open to either a loan or a permanent transfer for Bardghji, but to prefer a full sale, potentially with buy-back or sell-on clauses, as part of a broader effort to reduce wage pressure and improve balance-sheet flexibility. Bardghji has also drawn interest from Juventus, Marseille, Sunderland, Leeds and other clubs, with reports of more than 10 summer inquiries or offers.
