Investors are watching results from ConocoPhillips, Airbnb and Warner Bros. Discovery, while SpaceX insider lock-up restrictions expire after spending concerns hit the company and lifted Nvidia.
US stock futures moved slightly higher on Thursday after Wall Street's main indexes ended mixed a day earlier, with attention shifting to a fresh round of corporate earnings. Investors are awaiting results from ConocoPhillips, Airbnb and Warner Bros. Discovery, while also monitoring SpaceX as insider lock-up restrictions (limits on early shareholder sales) expire, allowing major shareholders to sell part of their holdings. SpaceX fell nearly 14% on Wednesday after reporting a sharp increase in capital expenditures (money spent on long-term assets), raising concerns about heavy artificial intelligence-related spending. Nvidia rose 3.4% after Elon Musk said on SpaceX's earnings call that the company would rely exclusively on Nvidia chips for its AI infrastructure. That gain helped push the Dow to another record high, even as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite faced pressure from broader technology sector weakness.
