Bloomberg said the venture firm has returned $5 billion this year to investors outside SpaceX, as Alfred Lin and Pat Grady line up what would be Sequoia's biggest investment in 54 years.
Sequoia Capital has completed its latest $10 billion fundraising round, Bloomberg reported, giving the firm fresh firepower for a deeper push into artificial intelligence. The firm has so far returned a total of $5 billion this year to investors outside SpaceX, while new co-leaders Alfred Lin and Pat Grady are planning a $2.5 billion investment in AI company Anthropic. If completed, that would be the largest single investment in Sequoia's 54-year history. The move marks a notable shift in emphasis after Sequoia had previously leaned toward OpenAI and xAI, only making its first investment in Anthropic in January 2025 before deciding to raise its exposure sharply, underscoring an increasingly aggressive wager on the AI sector.
