The Aug. 3 quarterly rebalance put BNB at 30.6% of the Smart Contract Fund, ahead of Ether and Solana, while other Grayscale crypto baskets saw smaller trims and redistributions.
Grayscale Investments' second-quarter 2026 rebalance added BNB to its Smart Contract Fund at a 30.6% weight as of Aug. 3, making it the largest position ahead of Ether at 29.47% and Solana at 29.15%. Cardano, Hedera, Avalanche and Sui were cut to 4.88%, 2.08%, 1.92% and 1.9%, respectively, after Grayscale sold existing holdings proportionally to fund the purchase. The basket follows a market-capitalization-weighted index for smart contract platforms, so Grayscale presented the change as an index-driven quarterly snapshot even as the new top weighting drew attention as a sign of rising institutional interest in BNB Chain. Uniswap remained the top DeFi Fund holding at 34.16% despite a trim, followed by Ondo at 25.44% and Aave at 19.97%, while NEAR led the Decentralized AI Fund at 31.35% after a partial sale and Bittensor rose to 29.15%. Grayscale said fund weights can change daily, and future quarterly reviews could shift allocations again depending on market conditions and index inputs. The firm does not disclose whether rebalances reflect fresh inflows or purely mechanical redistribution, and BNB's inclusion in the multi-asset fund is separate from its proposed spot BNB ETF, which remains under regulatory review.
