The transaction values Medicover's India hospital business at €1.2 billion and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, as Medicover sharpens its focus on Poland, Germany and Romania.
KKR has agreed to acquire Medicover India's hospital business in a transaction valued at €1.2 billion ($1.39 billion), adding disclosed financial terms to a deal that would transfer control of a 24-hospital, roughly 4,800-bed network across South and West India. Medicover said the sale will help it focus strategically and operationally on Poland, Germany and Romania, and that the divestment will generate gross cash proceeds of €740 million for the group. Medicover owns 66.1% of Medicover Hospitals India, while minority shareholders hold 33.9%. The India business generated €220.5 million in revenue on a last-twelve-months basis as of June 30, 2026, and accounted for 10% of Medicover's second-quarter revenue, according to its quarterly report. KKR had previously said Medicover India, established in 2017, operates across more than 80 clinical specialties with more than 1,900 doctors and serves millions of patients each year. The acquisition remains subject to regulatory approvals, and Medicover expects the divestment to complete in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company said its financial targets remain unchanged until after completion of the transaction.
