Hyperliquid GOLD hits highest since June 18 as whale’s $24.7 million short stays underwater

GOLD on Hyperliquid rose to $4,303.5 on Aug. 6, its highest level since June 18, before easing to $4,259.3, up about 2.9% over 24 hours. The move has kept a closely watched whale short position under pressure even after the trader added aggressively at higher prices. Monitoring data from TradingBeats, formerly Hyperinsight, showed a wallet beginning with 0x84a sold short another 2,199.9 GOLD between $4,261.2 and $4,300 over the past day, for about $9.423 million at a weighted average entry of roughly $4,283.4. The trader had started building the short on Aug. 4 when GOLD was still trading between $4,058 and $4,065 and then kept averaging in against the rally. The address now holds a 7x full-position short in 5,799.8 GOLD worth about $24.699 million, with a blended entry price of $4,156.4. The overall unrealized loss stands at about $593,000, with a liquidation price near $5,888.2. Even so, the newest higher-entry tranche, described as part of a trading-the-range strategy, has already turned profitable. Based on the current price, the $9.423 million in shorts added over the last 24 hours is showing an unrealized gain of about $53,000, while the earlier core position remains the main source of losses. The wallet first became active in July 2025 and currently has account equity of about $8.183 million, with cumulative historical profit near $10.5 million. Its trades have covered crypto, storage and commodities swing positions, with no clear long-term directional bias. It currently has no take-profit, stop-loss or additional add-on orders posted.
