Warren said the market structure bill favors crypto firms and could benefit President Donald Trump's digital-asset businesses, while leaving consumer protection, national security and financial-stability risks unresolved.
US Senator Elizabeth Warren renewed her opposition to the CLARITY Act while reaffirming that Congress should pass crypto legislation, saying the current market structure proposal favors the industry's interests over consumer protection, national security and financial stability. In an Aug. 6 interview at Capitol Hill, she said the bill was written to "protect and advance the crypto industry" and called it "a big giveaway to this zillion-dollar industry." Warren also linked her criticism to President Donald Trump's expanding crypto ventures, arguing the bill could further benefit those businesses while leaving corruption and investor-protection concerns unresolved. She said law enforcement officials oppose the measure because it could widen avenues for money laundering, drug trafficking, human trafficking and terrorism financing, and added that she has not seen evidence Senate negotiations before the August recess have fixed those problems.
