US energy firms added 33 billion cubic feet of natural gas to storage in the week ending July 31, exceeding market expectations for a 31 bcf build. The injection, a measure of gas added to underground inventories, was higher than the 13 bcf increase recorded in the same week a year ago and above the five-year average gain of 23 bcf for that week over 2021-2025. Total stockpiles rose to 3.117 trillion cubic feet, standing 0.4% below the same week last year and about 6.7% above the five-year average for the period. In the previous week ended July 24, energy firms added 28 bcf into storage.
