Elon Musk said Tesla's new TeraFab semiconductor manufacturing facility in Grimes County, Texas, is expected to direct about 25% of its AI compute output to Optimus and about 75% to AI spacecraft. The site is targeting more than 1 terawatt of annual AI compute capacity per year at full scale, and Musk said 3,000 jobs tied to the project represent only phase one of 10. He said Texas was chosen over California because "Major new construction projects are de facto illegal in California," while Tesla's Fremont facility continues to produce Optimus units.
