Selig said years of opposition to digital assets had held back financial innovation as the regulator works with innovators on what he called a new frontier in finance.
CFTC Chairman Mike Selig said the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission is "turning the page" on crypto after years in which opponents of digital assets, or cryptocurrencies, suppressed financial innovation. On Aug. 18, Selig said anti-crypto forces, pessimists and groups seeking to hinder technological progress had held back innovation for years, framing the agency's current direction as one that works with innovators to forge a path toward what he called a new frontier in finance.
