USDC and Circle logos will cover men’s, women’s and academy kits, debuting Sunday against Brighton after the club started the season without a front-of-shirt sponsor.
Chelsea Football Club has named stablecoin issuer Circle as its principal partner and front-of-shirt sponsor, placing USDC and Circle branding on the men’s, women’s and academy shirts through to the 2026/27 season. The logos are set to debut on Sunday when the reigning FIFA Club World Cup champions host Brighton and Hove Albion in their first home league game at Stamford Bridge, after Chelsea opened the campaign without a shirt sponsor and won 3-2 away at Fulham on Monday. The Friday announcement came about two months after the UK Financial Conduct Authority urged clubs to weigh financial crime and reputational risks of crypto backers lacking authorisation; Circle holds an FCA electronic money issuer licence in the UK. Neither side disclosed the value or length of the deal. Circle reported USDC circulation of $73.3 billion in the second quarter, up 19% year on year, with $14.8 trillion in on-chain volume, and market data have since put USDC near $73.8 billion. Circle has said USDC was designed to operate under the U.S. GENIUS Act stablecoin legislation, and the shirt deal is part of a broader sports-marketing return for large crypto brands.
