According to an official press release, the DeFi Education Fund has formed a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to advance DeFi advocacy, educate lawmakers, and address regulatory challenges while offering donors charitable giving incentives.
The DeFi Education Fund announced the creation of the DeFi Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit aimed at educating lawmakers about decentralized finance, protecting software developers, and promoting sound DeFi policies. The foundation will continue DEF’s advocacy work while enabling donors to make tax-deductible, in-kind crypto donations, which the organization says can be a more tax-efficient way to support its mission. The launch coincides with DEF and a16z urging the SEC to establish a “safe harbor” for blockchain-powered apps, countering concerns that current approaches could inappropriately classify software developers as brokers.
