KPMG Japan executive Kenji Hoki stated at the WebX2025 summit that Bitcoin ETFs may launch in Japan by spring 2027. He indicated that policymakers could propose lifting the current ban in the next tax reform, potentially taking effect in 2027. Alternatively, an administrative decree could remove the ban as early as next year.
