Tether changes course on freezing USDT tokens across several blockchains after pushback, opting for a compromise to end support instead of freezing tokens.
Tether announced that it will not freeze USDT tokens on older blockchains like Bitcoin Cash, Kusama, EOS, and Algorand, as previously planned. Instead, it will classify them as unsupported, allowing wallet transfers but ceasing issuance and redemption. This decision follows backlash from users on those networks and aligns with Tether’s broader strategy to focus on higher-volume blockchains. Additionally, Tether plans to introduce a native USDT on Bitcoin via the RGB protocol.
