Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer-2 network, shifts its stance on tokenization and unveils new projects aimed at expanding decentralization and ecosystem growth.
Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer-2 network, has announced it is exploring the possibility of launching a network token, marking a shift from its previous stance. This exploration follows the success of Linea’s token generation event and is part of Base’s broader effort to accelerate decentralization. Additionally, Base has launched a bridge between Solana and Ethereum, announced new developer programs, and hit a milestone of $5B in total value locked. However, the network also faced an outage in August 2025, affecting block production for over 30 minutes.
