OKX CEO Star Xu revealed that OKX Web3 had been testing a decentralized perpetuals trading platform since 2023, similar to Hyperliquid, but chose not to launch it due to regulatory concerns. The U.S. CFTC's 2023 enforcement against Deridex highlighted the regulatory challenges facing such platforms. Other decentralized exchanges like Hyperliquid and Aster have emerged as competitors in the space, with Hyperliquid seeing substantial success in 2024.
