On October 9, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities launched ASTOMO, a blockchain-based platform enabling individual investors to trade real estate-backed security tokens starting from 100,000 yen. The platform, developed in partnership with fintech firm Smart Plus, marks a significant step in the digital asset sector. Mitsubishi UFJ also plans to issue public subordinated bonds as security tokens, making it the first bank in Japan to adopt such technology.
