New York City has established the first U.S. municipal office dedicated to digital assets and blockchain technology, marking a formal step toward integrating crypto policy into local governance. The office aims to regulate and promote blockchain use across city functions while advancing innovation and industry engagement. This initiative builds on Mayor Eric Adams’s pro-crypto stance, including his earlier conversion of paychecks into cryptocurrency and commitment to positioning New York as a global blockchain hub. Moises Rendon will lead the office, supported by an advisory committee of industry experts.
