According to Trezor, the Safe 7 introduces a transparent secure element and quantum-ready design, aiming to enhance verifiable security and future-proof self-custody against quantum threats.
Trezor officially announced the launch of its Safe 7 hardware wallet, introducing an auditable secure element called TROPIC01 and a quantum-ready architecture. The wallet’s design allows public verification of its secure element, addressing long-standing transparency issues in hardware wallet security. It uses a dual-chip system combining the open TROPIC01 component with an EAL6+ certified element to defend against both physical and software attacks. Key features include Bluetooth, Qi2 wireless charging, a 2.5-inch touchscreen, Gorilla Glass protection, and a LiFePO4 battery with extended lifecycle. The Safe 7 is compatible with the Trezor Suite app, supporting multiple cryptocurrencies, with a Bitcoin-only version also available. Trezor stated that the design prepares users for post-quantum cryptography standards, reinforcing its mission to provide transparent and verifiable self-custody solutions.
