The Hong Kong SAR Government will launch its third tokenized green bond series via HSBC’s blockchain infrastructure, reinforcing efforts to link sustainable finance with digital innovation.
The Hong Kong SAR Government is set to issue its third batch of blockchain-based green bonds worth approximately HK$10 billion, using HSBC’s digital bond infrastructure. This issuance includes HKD, RMB, USD, and EUR tranches, with tokenized central bank currency settlement for HKD and RMB to speed transactions and cut costs. Proceeds will fund environmental and climate-related projects, continuing Hong Kong’s program that began in 2023 to integrate sustainability goals with blockchain efficiency.
