Emory University doubled its Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust holdings and added a $79 million gold ETF position, reflecting a broader institutional shift toward alternative assets.
Emory University’s third-quarter SEC 13F filing shows its holdings in the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust rose to over 1 million shares, valued at about $52 million as of Sept. 30, up from just under 500,000 shares in Q2. The university first disclosed a position in October 2024, then worth $15 million. Its spot Bitcoin ETF holding in BlackRock’s IBIT remained at roughly $290,000. Endowment managers also initiated a new $79 million position in BlackRock’s iShares Gold Trust and increased Coinbase holdings to nearly 4,500 shares worth $1.2 million. These moves signal growing institutional comfort with Bitcoin via regulated ETFs alongside broader diversification into hard assets.
