BlackRock’s registration of a staked Ethereum trust in Delaware marks an initial step toward a yield-bearing crypto ETF, as issuers await U.S. regulatory guidance on staking inclusion.
BlackRock has registered the iShares Staked Ethereum Trust ETF in Delaware as an initial move toward a staking-based Ethereum ETF. The filing, dated November 19, 2025, is a preliminary registration and not yet a formal application under the Securities Act of 1933. This development follows VanEck’s similar registration tied to Lido’s staked ETH, with both asset managers positioning for future competition pending SEC guidance on staking in ETFs. The first U.S. spot ETH ETFs, launched in 2024, excluded staking after SEC objections. The new trust signals BlackRock’s intent to expand its Ethereum product line with yield-generating features once permitted.
