Since January 20, the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, oversaw a period in which federal debt increased by $2.1 trillion over 326 days, averaging $6.5 billion per day. Originally scheduled to run until July 2026, the office has been dissolved ahead of schedule.
