The latest Commerce Department data shows headline PCE rose to 2.8% annually, while core PCE eased to 2.8%, highlighting mixed inflation signals ahead of the Fed’s policy meeting.
The US Commerce Department reported that September headline Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) inflation rose 0.3% month-on-month, lifting the annual rate to 2.8% from 2.7%. Core PCE, which excludes food and energy, slowed slightly to 2.8% year-over-year from 2.9%. The delayed release, attributed to data lags, means the Federal Reserve will be assessing policy at next week’s meeting using slightly outdated indicators, potentially complicating interest rate decisions.
