Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is leading the development of a closed artificial intelligence model called Avocado, scheduled for release in spring 2026. This marks a shift from Meta’s previous open-source strategy, with resources being moved from metaverse initiatives to AI hardware projects. The company plans to invest $600 billion in U.S. AI infrastructure over the next three years.
