Acting Chairman Caroline Pham assembled top leaders from major crypto and finance firms to advise on derivatives market innovations ahead of her departure.
In her final days as acting leader, Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC – U.S. derivatives regulator) Acting Chairman Caroline Pham announced the creation of the CEO Innovation Council, comprising executives from crypto and traditional finance firms. Members include Gemini's Tyler Winklevoss, Kraken's Arjun Sethi, Polymarket's Shayne Coplan, Bitnomial's Luke Hoersten, and leaders from CME Group, Nasdaq, Intercontinental Exchange, and Cboe Global Markets. The council will focus on market structure developments in derivatives, particularly involving tokenization, crypto assets, perpetual contracts, prediction markets, and blockchain market infrastructure. Pham also recently advanced a pilot program for using crypto collateral in derivatives trading and supported leveraged spot crypto trading initiatives. The announcement comes as the Senate prepares to vote on confirming Mike Selig as permanent CFTC chairman, following President Donald Trump's pro-crypto policy directives.
