Following his U.S. prison term, Korean prosecutors indicate Do Kwon could face an additional trial under capital market laws, potentially adding decades to his sentence.
On December 11, 2025, Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon received a 15-year U.S. prison sentence for fraud tied to the TerraUSD and Luna collapse. Korean prosecutors now state that if extradited after serving his U.S. term, he may face charges under Korea’s capital market laws, with a possible additional sentence of up to 30 years. The May 2022 crash erased about $40 billion, leading to significant civil penalties exceeding $4.5 billion. Kwon was arrested in Montenegro in March 2023 and extradited to the U.S. in late 2024.
