President Nayib Bukele announces a partnership with Elon Musk’s xAI to deploy Grok-based AI tutoring to over 5,000 public schools, aiming to enhance learning for more than one million students.
El Salvador, led by President Nayib Bukele, has partnered with Elon Musk’s xAI to create the world’s first national AI-powered public education system. The initiative will deploy Grok chatbots to more than 5,000 public schools within two years, benefiting over a million students and thousands of teachers. Grok will adapt lessons to individual student pace and skill, aligning with the national curriculum to ensure consistent instruction across urban and rural areas. The project will also generate new AI datasets, frameworks, and methods focusing on local context, safety, and human-centered impact, with potential applications beyond El Salvador. Musk praised El Salvador’s forward-looking stance, while Bukele emphasized the country's pioneering role in AI-driven education.
