YouTube now allows U.S. creators to receive PayPal’s PYUSD stablecoin payments, reflecting Big Tech’s growing adoption of stablecoins for mainstream creator monetization.
YouTube has enabled U.S. content creators to receive earnings in PYUSD, PayPal’s U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin, in a move announced by PayPal’s head of crypto, May Zabaneh. Introduced as a payout option by PayPal in Q3 2025, PYUSD is now being deployed by YouTube only for U.S. creators. The stablecoin, issued by Paxos and launched in August 2023, is built for seamless conversions, cross-border transfers, subscriptions, vendor payments, and near-instant settlement, aiming to reduce banking delays and volatility risks. PYUSD has grown to become the sixth-largest stablecoin with a $3.9 billion market cap, supported by Visa’s settlement platform alongside USDG$0.9997 and Circle’s EURC. The integration marks one of the most prominent consumer-facing uses of PYUSD beyond backend payments, highlighting broader tech industry interest—seen in Apple, Airbnb and X—in adopting stablecoins for payouts.
