Firedancer, developed by Jump Crypto, moves from controlled testing to mainnet validation, signaling enhanced decentralization and performance potential for Solana’s network and its applications.
Solana has deployed Firedancer, a high-performance validator client built by Jump Crypto, onto its mainnet after over 100 days of controlled testing, during which select validators produced more than 50,000 blocks without downtime. Constructed in C and C++, Firedancer is designed to handle high workloads and reduce network interruptions, with lab tests showing potential throughput of over 1 million transactions per second. Although adoption remains under 1% of total staked SOL, more than 20% of validators shifted from earlier experimental clients during its December rollout. The launch coincided with a 5% rise in SOL’s price to nearly $140 and $11 million in Solana ETF inflows, contrasting with significant outflows from Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs.
