On December 21, Brooklyn prosecutors charged a 23-year-old man with stealing nearly $16 million from approximately 100 Coinbase users through a phishing scheme. The suspect allegedly posed as Coinbase customer support, funneled stolen funds through crypto mixers, and was found with $105,000 in cash and about $400,000 in cryptocurrency. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated the company is committed to accountability and supporting law enforcement efforts.
