Ethereum Foundation shifts focus to cryptographic security after clearing proof performance bottlenecks, setting non-negotiable Layer 1 standards and a structured tool release roadmap.
On December 18, the Ethereum Foundation announced that it has resolved proof performance bottlenecks and will concentrate on security enhancements. Due to breaches in certain mathematical conjectures, the foundation set 128-bit proof security as a mandatory standard for Ethereum’s Layer 1. The roadmap includes the release of the 'soundcalc' tool by February 2026 to aid cryptographic safety, along with staged size and security targets planned by the end of 2026.
