Neel Somani will leave his role in October 2025 to pursue machine learning research, following Eclipse’s growth from Solana VM scaling to a $50M Ethereum Layer2 platform.
Eclipse founder Neel Somani announced he will step down as executive chairman in October 2025 to focus on machine learning research. Somani established Eclipse in 2022, securing $15 million in seed funding to scale Solana VM before pivoting to an Ethereum Layer2 network. The company completed a $50 million Series A raise in 2024, after which Somani transitioned from CEO to chairman. Sydney Huang has been appointed CEO as Eclipse prepares to launch a flagship application on its Layer2 infrastructure next month.
