Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino confirmed the acquisition of 8,888 BTC on New Year’s Eve 2025, valued at about $780 million, raising public holdings above 96,000 BTC. This addition forms part of a total 9,850 BTC purchased in Q4 2025, alongside earlier quarterly buys in Q1 and Q3. Ardoino also disclosed that Tether added 26 tonnes of gold in Q3 2025, bringing reserves to 116 tonnes and placing the company among the world’s top 30 gold holders. These moves align with Tether’s ongoing strategy to diversify reserves beyond USDT issuance.
