Tether announced an investment in Southeast Asia-based startup SQRIL, which provides payment APIs for banks, e-wallets, and fintech applications. SQRIL’s API allows mobile users in Asia, Africa, and Latin America to make payments by scanning local QR codes, supporting transactions in the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and bank transfers in Malaysia and Thailand. The investment aims to expand stablecoin-based and QR-enabled cross-border payment infrastructure in these emerging regions.
