London-based hedge fund Karatage has hired former IMC Trading executive Shane O’Callaghan to drive global institutional expansion and strengthen its position in the blockchain and digital asset markets.
Karatage, a London-based hedge fund focused on digital assets, has appointed Shane O’Callaghan as Senior Partner and Head of Institutional Strategy, according to an official statement. O’Callaghan joins from IMC Trading, where he served as global head of institutional partnerships and digital asset sales. He previously held senior roles at Portofino Technologies and BlockFi. CEO Marius Barnett described the hire as part of the firm’s strategy to execute at a higher level and expand its institutional reach. Founded in 2017, Karatage invests across digital assets, crypto-focused funds and blockchain infrastructure businesses, combining liquid token investments with long-term strategic bets. The fund takes a thematic approach, targeting projects in blockchain, decentralized finance (DeFi), and related sectors with potential structural impact on finance and the economy.
