According to the Zcash Foundation, new DNS seed nodes in the US and Europe aim to prevent outages like those affecting ECC-run infrastructure earlier in January.
On January 14, the Zcash Foundation announced it had deployed five additional DNS seed nodes in South Carolina, Oregon, Belgium, Germany, and Finland, bringing its total to six. The expansion was prompted by outages on January 8 that impaired seed nodes operated by the Electric Coin Company (ECC). The new nodes are intended to strengthen network reliability for Zcash wallets and nodes by improving peer discovery at startup.
