Google Play Korea will ban distribution and updates of foreign crypto exchange and wallet apps that are not registered with the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit from January 28. Only 27 domestic platforms such as Upbit and Bithumb currently hold registration, while major foreign operators including Binance, Bybit, and OKX remain unlicensed under Korean law. The move aligns with stricter enforcement of virtual asset service provider regulations and is expected to benefit compliant domestic exchanges by limiting unregistered competition.
