TikTok has created a new entity, TikTok US Data Security Joint Venture LLC, to oversee user data protection, algorithm safety, and content moderation in the United States. The company’s parent, ByteDance, holds a 19.9% stake, while General Atlantic, Silver Lake, and MGX each own 15%. The venture is managed by a seven-member board chaired by TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew, marking a structural step to bolster U.S. data governance.
