Nifty Gateway’s closure marks the end of a significant NFT platform, as Gemini shifts its priorities to building a one-stop super app, continuing NFT support through its Gemini Wallet.
Nifty Gateway, the NFT platform once central to the 2021 digital art boom, will shut down on February 23, 2026. The platform has entered withdrawal-only mode, allowing users until then to move their NFTs and funds. The decision reflects parent company Gemini’s shift toward building a comprehensive super app. Nifty Gateway had facilitated over $300 million in sales at its peak but rebranded in 2024 to focus on onchain creative projects. The NFT market, once valued at $17 billion, is currently experiencing a downturn, with its market cap at $2.8 billion.
