Anthropic, creator of the Claude chatbot, is set to secure $20 billion in fresh capital led by GIC and Coatue, as investor demand doubles its initial target and boosts AI-related markets.
Anthropic, the San Francisco-based AI firm behind the Claude chatbot, is poised to raise $20 billion at a $350 billion valuation, doubling its previous fundraising target, according to the Financial Times. The deal, led by GIC and Coatue with participation from Sequoia Capital, will see $10–$15 billion funded immediately, with the remainder finalised in the coming weeks. Previous commitments of $10 billion from Microsoft and $5 billion from Nvidia add to its capital base. The news lifted bitcoin miners pivoting to AI infrastructure—IREN and Cipher Mining rose over 12%, while Hut 8 and TeraWulf gained more than 8%. Bitcoin climbed above $89,000 and gold reached a record $5,200 per ounce following comments by President Trump.
