Dubai Insurance becomes the first traditional insurer globally to launch a regulated crypto wallet, enabling on-chain insurance transactions in alignment with UAE’s digital asset integration push.
Dubai Insurance announced the launch of its cryptocurrency wallet, developed in partnership with Standard Chartered–backed Zodia Custody, marking the first such initiative by a traditional insurer worldwide. The wallet allows customers to pay premiums, receive claims, and transact digital assets using regulated, on-chain infrastructure. The UAE's fourth-largest insurer created the solution amid the country’s policy shift towards integrating digital assets into mainstream finance under updated custody and compliance rules. CEO Abdellatif Abuqurah stated the move redefines insurance services by enabling blockchain-based payments while maintaining governance and security standards.
