Tether issued 192,000 XAUt tokens on the Ethereum blockchain, valued at approximately $946 million. According to Etherscan, this mint represents about six metric tons of physical gold backing. XAUt is Tether’s gold-backed digital token, allowing holders to gain exposure to gold without physically storing it, with each token representing ownership of one troy ounce of gold. This minting significantly adds to the circulating supply of gold-backed crypto assets.
