On January 25 in Voiron, France, police arrested three men in their 20s for kidnapping and torturing a 74-year-old man in an attempt to extort $3.5 million in cryptocurrency from his son. The suspects held the victim for 16 hours before releasing him upon discovering the son was not a crypto millionaire.
