According to the county notice, authorities will strengthen inspections and encourage public reporting of violations, alongside penalties and contract annulment, to enforce the comprehensive ban on crypto mining.
On February 4, Butuo County in Sichuan’s Liangshan Prefecture announced a total ban on all cryptocurrency mining, declaring it an illegal financial activity. Enforcement measures include cutting electricity and internet access, halting bank loans, imposing legal, party, and administrative penalties, and invalidating related investment contracts. Authorities said they will step up inspections, crack down on illegal operations, and urge residents to report violations to local government and relevant departments. The prohibition applies to all virtual currencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum.
