Japan’s Financial Services Agency is assessing potential regulatory action over SANAE Token’s alleged unregistered issuance, while Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama states the government will take measures to protect users if complaints emerge.
Japan’s Financial Services Agency (JFSA) is considering an investigation into SANAE Token to determine whether the cryptocurrency was issued without proper registration under Japan’s regulatory framework. The token, which debuted on February 25, 2025 and references Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s name, has drawn scrutiny despite Takaichi denying any involvement. During a Financial Committee session on April 4, Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama stated in the Diet that the government would take appropriate measures to protect users if complaints arise regarding the token’s alleged unregistered issuance. The developments highlight Japan’s continued focus on enforcing compliance and strengthening investor protection within the country’s digital asset market.
