Dutch market maker IMC Trading has hired Alex Casimo as chief commercial officer for its cryptocurrency business, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter. Casimo started this week in London. The appointment is tied to IMC’s push to expand its institutional crypto operations and deepen relationships with counterparties and crypto foundations. IMC trades on 50 exchanges and reports about $3 billion in average daily crypto volume. Casimo previously founded Portofino Technologies, where he served as chief operating officer, and also worked at Citadel Securities. IMC and Casimo declined to comment.
