Ireland’s Criminal Assets Bureau seized 500 BTC worth more than $35 million from a Bitcoin wallet linked to convicted drug dealer Clifton Collins, marking a significant recovery in a long-running criminal asset case. Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre provided technical support to access the wallet. Blockchain intelligence firm Arkham said the 500 BTC were transferred to Coinbase Prime, while about 5,500 BTC tied to Collins remain spread across 14 addresses. Collins had acquired 6,000 BTC in 2011 and 2012 using drug proceeds and was sentenced to five years in prison in 2017.
